Background: Democratic Jobs  clients are looking for The Democratic Field Director is responsible for developing and executing the field strategy for political campaigns or advocacy organizations aligned with the Democratic party. This is a leadership position that oversees all field operations including volunteer recruitment and management, canvassing, phone banking, and get-out-the-vote efforts.

Roles/Duties:

  • Develop and implement the overall field strategy and plan to support the campaign/organization's goals for voter contact, persuasion, mobilization, and turnout.
  • Recruit, train, and manage a team of staff and volunteers to carry out field activities like canvassing, phone banking, and community events. Ensure teams have the resources and support needed to be successful.
  • Set and monitor metrics for voter contact goals, volunteer shifts, turf coverage, and other key performance indicators. Report progress regularly and adjust strategy as needed.
  • Serve as a public face of the campaign, motivating and energizing volunteers and local supporters. Attend community events and meetings.
  • Coordinate with communications, data, and other teams to target voter outreach and get-out-the-vote efforts.
  • Stay up to date on local political landscape and competitive conditions in the district/region. Identify opportunities to advance campaign goals.
  • Work extended hours including nights and weekends as needed throughout the course of the campaign. Some travel may be required.

Job Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have proven experience running successful campaigns along with the strategic vision and leadership skills to guide the candidate to victory. They must be committed to the democratic process and align with the candidate's values.

  • 2+ cycles of campaign field experience, with at least 1 cycle in a leadership role ideally. Ability to point to measurable results and impact.
  • Strong organizational abilities and capacity to manage multiple projects and teams simultaneously.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to motivate and rally diverse groups of people.
  • Resourceful problem-solving skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Passion for electing Democrats and progressive causes. Knowledge of local political context.
