Background: Democratic Jobs  clients are looking for highly skilled and experienced Democratic Communications Director to join our team. As the Democratic Communications Director, you will play a critical role in shaping and delivering effective communication strategies that promote our party's values, initiatives, and policies. Your exceptional communication skills, strategic thinking, and political acumen will be instrumental in advancing our party's objectives and engaging with the public, media, and key stakeholders.<

Roles/Duties:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive communications strategies to effectively communicate the party's vision, goals, and accomplishments.
  • Craft compelling messages and narratives that resonate with diverse audiences, conveying the Democratic Party's values and policy positions.
  • Serve as the primary spokesperson for the party, delivering speeches, conducting media interviews, and responding to press inquiries.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with media outlets, journalists, and influencers to proactively promote our party's message and secure positive coverage.
  • Collaborate closely with party leaders, elected officials, and campaign teams to ensure consistent messaging and coordinated communication efforts.
  • Oversee the creation and dissemination of press releases, statements, speeches, op-eds, and other communication materials.
  • Monitor media coverage, public opinion, and political trends to provide strategic recommendations and crisis management support.
  • Utilize digital and social media platforms to engage supporters, expand the party's online presence, and drive effective advocacy campaigns.
  • Develop and manage communication budgets, including resource allocation and vendor relationships.
  • Lead and inspire a team of communications professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and fostering a collaborative work environment.

Job Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have proven experience running successful campaigns along with the strategic vision and leadership skills to guide the candidate to victory. They must be committed to the democratic process and align with the candidate's values.

  • Extensive experience in strategic communications, preferably in political campaigns or government settings.
  • Deep understanding of Democratic Party values, policy positions, and political landscape.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft persuasive messages and deliver impactful speeches.
  • Proven experience as a spokesperson, interacting with media outlets and handling press inquiries.
  • Strong media relations skills, with a track record of securing positive coverage and managing crisis communications.
  • Familiarity with digital and social media platforms, and their role in modern political communication.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, while managing multiple projects and priorities.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders and build strong relationships.
  • Strong leadership abilities, with experience managing teams and providing strategic direction.
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Political Science, Journalism, or a related field.

  • $20-30 per hour, depending on performance.

Pay: 

  • $45,000-$75,000 per hour, depending on performance.
