Roles/Duties:

    • Develop and execute strategic communications plans to promote the Democratic Party's agenda through earned media channels
    • Build and maintain relationships with political reporters, journalists, and media outlets
    • Pitch stories, secure media interviews, and coordinate press events for Democratic officials and candidates
    • Draft and distribute press releases, talking points, op-eds, and other content to highlight the Democratic Party's stances
    • Monitor daily news cycles and political climate to identify media opportunities or potential issues
    • Serve as spokesperson for the Democratic Party organization and manage day-to-day media inquiries and interview requests
    • Manage social media accounts and digital communications strategy
    • Track media coverage and analyze the impact of PR efforts

Job Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have proven experience running successful campaigns along with the strategic vision and leadership skills to guide the candidate to victory. They must be committed to the democratic process and align with the candidate's values.

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or related field
  • 3+ years experience in media relations, politics, or public relations role
  • Existing relationships with political media contacts preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work well under tight deadlines and pressure
  • Knowledge of local political landscape and key issues
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities
  • Passion for politics and the Democratic Party's mission
