As a key member of the communications team, an outreach coordinator is responsible for engaging with various stakeholders to foster collaboration, implement effective strategies, and drive community outreach initiatives. They work to ensure that policies and programs reach a diverse audience by considering factors such as gender identity, national origin, and veteran status. With their exceptional verbal and interpersonal communication skills, outreach coordinators effectively communicate the organization’s values, mission, and goals to a wide range of individuals. They collaborate with partner organizations, plan community events, and stay updated on current events and public policy to enhance outreach efforts. Roles/Duties:
- Develop comprehensive voter outreach plans and strategies for local, state, and national democratic campaigns and causes. This includes identifying voter segments, establishing outreach goals, and determining the optimal outreach methods.
- Oversee and manage voter outreach programs including voter registration drives, phone banking, canvassing, event organizing, and digital outreach campaigns.
- Recruit, train and manage teams of outreach volunteers and organizers. Provide training on democratic talking points, canvassing best practices, and tools like the voter database.
- Work closely with the communications team to craft messaging and create outreach materials that effectively promote the democratic platform and candidates.
- Track and analyze outreach metrics to identify successes and opportunities for improvement. Recommend optimizations to increase voter engagement and turnout.
- Stay up to date on the latest trends and best practices in voter outreach, engagement and mobilization. Incorporate new tactics and technologies as appropriate.
- Represent the democratic party at community events and local political functions. Serve as a liaison between the party and constituent groups.
- Perform other duties in support of the outreach program as assigned.
Job Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have proven experience running successful campaigns along with the strategic vision and leadership skills to guide the candidate to victory. They must be committed to the democratic process and align with the candidate's values.
- 3+ years experience coordinating voter outreach and engagement campaigns
- Strong knowledge of democratic values, key issues, and policy positions
- Ability to motivate, mobilize, and manage volunteers
- Excellent communication and public speaking skills
- High energy and passion for democratic causes
- Strong project management and organizational abilities
- Proficient with voter databases, digital outreach tools and social media
- Experience with grassroots campaigning tactics and strategies
- Bachelor's degree in political science, communications or related field preferred
