Roles/Duties:

    • Research policy issues and the backgrounds of speakers to craft persuasive, dynamic speeches
    • Meet with officials to understand their priorities and views before drafting speeches
    • Write in the voice of various democratic leaders while promoting the party's key messaging
    • Produce memorable soundbites and turns of phrase that convey complex ideas
    • Ensure speech content is factually accurate, logically structured, and tailored for the intended audience
    • Revise and refine speeches based on feedback from senior staff
    • Work with tight deadlines to produce quality content under pressure
    • Travel with officials as needed to assist with speech preparations

Job Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have proven experience running successful campaigns along with the strategic vision and leadership skills to guide the candidate to victory. They must be committed to the democratic process and align with the candidate's values.

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism or related field
  • 3+ years experience as a political speechwriter or related role
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills with ability to adapt tone and style
  • Deep knowledge of domestic and foreign policy issues
  • Understanding of the Democratic party's platform and positions
  • Ability to condense complex policy details into compelling narratives
  • Analytical mind capable of anticipating counter-arguments
  • Excellent verbal communications skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
